Philosophy Clubs
General Information
PLATO is committed to fostering the growth of philosophy education in middle and high schools. We offer support and mentorship to groups starting or expanding Philosophy Clubs, including stipends to support Philosophy or Ethics Clubs taking place at public high schools and middle schools.
Our Philosophy Club Start-Up Kit is available to help you get started.
Members of PLATO’s Student Advisory Council, composed of high school students helping PLATO to expand access to philosophy education, are available to provide support and mentorship to any middle or high school philosophy club.

Stipends
PLATO offers stipends to support Philosophy Clubs in public middle and high schools in the US, including Ethics Clubs.
Stipend Requirements. The club must include an adult sponsor. Clubs can be composed of students from a single school or from several, changing venues as desired. Members decide how to structure the clubs.
Stipend Amount: Philosophy Club stipends are $250. A limited number are available and will be awarded in the order in which accepted applications are received and approved.
To apply: Applications may be completed by students or adult club sponsors. Please complete and submit the application to the right (below on mobile).
Applications will be accepted until February 28 of each year.
